It’s a good idea to check your car before starting out on your road trip. Here are five things you should look at:
Fluids can include your oil, coolant, brake fluid and water in your windscreen washer tank. If necessary, change your oil and oil filter.
You should thoroughly wash your front and back windscreens for maximum visibility before setting out. Check your wiper blades for wear and tear and replace them if necessary.
All cars should have at least 1.6mm of tread on their tyres. If the tread is 1.5mm or under, you should replace your tyres. Make sure you have the recommended tyre pressure (which you should find in your owner’s manual). Don’t forget to check your spare.
Make sure that all your indicators, headlights and brake lights work properly. Replace any bulbs that are not working.
Make sure your car has a spare tyre, wheel jack, spanner and emergency reflective triangle and that everything works properly. It’s also handy to keep a torch, first-aid kit and fire extinguisher in your car.
Stay safe on the road by keeping your car in a good condition.
Safe travels and happy holidays!
