Don’t risk it – rather replace your cracked or chipped windscreen

Windscreens are designed to ensure the safety of the vehicle’s occupants. A windscreen consists of two layers of glass that are laminated together. If one layer of glass breaks, the laminate and the inside layer of glass hold the windscreen together, keeping pieces of glass from injuring occupants of the car. In certain cases, extreme impacts cause them to chip, crack or shatter.

Windscreen damage is often caused by small stones hitting your windscreen.

It usually starts as a small annoying chip on your windscreen, which is easily repairable at a glass fitment and repair centre.  However, when the small chip becomes a crack that runs across your windscreen, you need to replace the windscreen.

We recommend that damaged windscreens are repaired or replaced as soon as possible for two most important reasons:

  1. Damaged windscreens are weakened; therefore, they would provide less protection.
  2. Cracked windscreens decrease visibility.

You should not ignore your damaged windscreen! Driving with a cracked windscreen is not recommended.
